Privacy policy

Matrix ROI is made by Smith App Studio. It brings a business's advertising, website, sales and email numbers into one place and compares what ad platforms report with what the business itself recorded. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We wrote it in plain English on purpose.

The short version

• We use your data only to run Matrix ROI for you.
• We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
• Connected accounts are read-only. We never post, change or spend anything in them.
• You can export everything or delete your account at any time.

What we collect

• Account details: your name, email address, a securely hashed password, and the settings you choose (time zone, currency, language).
• Data from accounts you connect: when you connect a service such as an ad platform, store, CRM or email tool, we read reporting data from it, for example spend, clicks, impressions, conversions, orders and revenue. We read only what is needed for your reports.
• Files you upload: spreadsheets or data files you choose to import.
• Usage and security records: sign-in times, an audit log of important changes in your workspace, and the technical information needed to keep the service secure, such as IP address and browser type.

We do not need, and ask you not to upload, sensitive personal information about your own customers, such as health or payment card details.

How we use it

• To show your dashboards, reports, insights, alerts and answers to your questions.
• To keep your account secure and prevent abuse.
• To send messages you asked for, such as reports, alerts and sign-in emails.
• To fix problems and improve the service, using your data only inside your workspace.

Data from Google and other platforms

When you connect Google services such as Google Ads or Google Analytics, Matrix ROI's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. In particular, we use that data only to provide the features you see in Matrix ROI, we do not transfer it to others except as needed to run the service or as required by law, we do not use it for advertising, and no person reads it unless you ask us to for support, it is needed for security, or the law requires it.

The same rules apply to data from Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Microsoft, TikTok, Shopify, Stripe and every other service you connect. You can disconnect any of them in Connections at any time, and you can also remove our access from inside that service's own settings.

Artificial intelligence

The Matrix ROI assistant calculates answers from your own numbers. Your data is not sent to outside AI companies and is not used to train AI models. If we ever offer an optional outside AI provider, it will be off until an administrator in your workspace turns it on.

Who we share it with

We share data only with the companies that host and run the service for us, under contracts that require them to protect it: our web hosting provider, our database provider and our email delivery provider. If you are on an agency's workspace, the agency can see the client data you share with it. We may disclose information if the law requires it. If Smith App Studio is ever sold or merged, this policy will continue to protect your data, and we will tell you first.

Security

Connections to the service are encrypted. Access keys for your connected accounts are stored encrypted. Passwords are stored only as secure hashes. Each workspace's data is kept separate from every other workspace. Team access follows the roles you assign.

Cookies

We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in, and your browser remembers your light or dark theme. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is open. If you delete your workspace, it is removed after a 14-day grace period, so an accidental request can be undone, and it is cleared from backups as they expire. Reporting data older than your workspace's retention setting (three years unless you change it) is removed automatically.

Your choices and rights

• See and export: download a full copy of your workspace data in Settings, Privacy.
• Correct: update your details in Settings at any time.
• Delete: delete your workspace in Settings, Privacy, or email us. To remove data that came from a connected service such as Facebook, disconnect it in Connections or ask us at smithappsupport@gmail.com, and we will delete it.
• Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR or California's privacy laws. Email us and we will help.

Beta

Matrix ROI is in beta. Features may change, and some demonstration screens use clearly labelled fictional data.

Children

Matrix ROI is a business tool and is not meant for anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we make an important change, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
